Do I need a new Electrical Panel?

What is an electrical panel?
The electrical panel provides electricity to appliances throughout your home. Power from the utility company flows into the home through this panel, where it branches out into major electrical branches, dwindling into smaller branches in order to distribute power. A properly functioning electrical panel is essential to the safety of your family and home.

Some reasons you may need an upgrade:

  • Renovations, particularly in the kitchen, which is appliance-heavy.
  • New addition.
  • Addition of major appliance; such as central heating and air, stoves, spas, garage power equipment, and more.
  • Adding outlets to your home.
  • Need to add a sub panel
  • If you have one of the below electrical panels; which over time are known to deteriorate and pose possible safety issues:
    • Federal Pacific Electrical Panel
    • Zinsco Electrical Panel
    • Pushmatic Electrical Panel
    • Fuse Box

Home showing these signs:

  • Need to turn off one appliance to use another.
  • Appliances running at less than full power.
  • Two pronged (non-grounded) outlets.
  • Home not equipped with GFCIs (ground fault circuit interrupters) in necessary areas.

Types of Upgrades:
Can range from installing additional circuit breakers in the existing box to adding a subpanel for expansion, or replacing an old fuse box or inadequate panel with a model to provide higher energy capacity.
