Do I need to add a new Dedicated Circuit?

If remodeling your home or business, adding additional outlets, or a heavy duty appliance as listed above, you need new dedicated circuits

What is a dedicated circuit?
Electricity enters your home through your circuit breaker box or fuse box. Individual circuits feed electricity into different sections of your home or business. Each circuit is protected by a breaker or fuse. For safety issues, any time you install a heavy duty electrical appliance, it needs to have its own “dedicated circuit”. Dedicated circuits are required by the National Electrical Code for major electrical appliances. They ensure enough power is available so that appliances can operate safely, without overloading the system.

Common Appliances that Need Dedicated Circuits
Bathroom, blow dryer, central vacuum, clothes dryer, dishwasher, electric dryer, electric range, freezer, furnace, garage (2), garage door opener, garbage disposal, heating and air conditioning units, hot tub/sauna/Jacuzzi, kitchen countertop (2), microwave, space heater, refrigerator, toaster, sump pump, wall oven, water heater, water pump

What if I don’t have the right dedicated circuit?
For example, if a stove and a hair dryer are powered on the same circuit, the circuit will probably blow because of the high energy demand. By dedicating a circuit, the supply of power will not be interrupted and operating conditions will remain safe.
